摘要
Postoperative acute cholecystitis (PAC) may occur following surgical procedures unrelated to the gallbladder. As a result of advanced technology, this entity is most often associated with critically ill patients, However, PAC can develop in otherwise healthy patients recovering from routine surgery. Maintaining a high degree of suspicion in postoperative patients helps clinicians to identify and diagnose this potentially life-threatening complication, We report a case of a 46-year-old woman who developed PAC following appendectomy for acute appendicitis. We then provide an extensive review of the literature.
