摘要
Single-mode optical fibers (SMOF) and high-power semiconductor lasers (SL) are used in wavelength-division multiplexed optical-fiber transmission systems (WDM-OFTS) designed for long-range communications links. However, as extensive research has shown [1-9], the relatively high optical power density in the SMOF's leads to Raman amplification (RA), which has a significant effect on the error probability of each channel at the output of the regeneration section (RS) of the WDM-OFTS line channel (LC) [15]. The purpose of this paper is to develop a procedure for optimizing the performance of WDM-OFTS line channels using the criterion of the maximum length of the regeneration section taking into account the effect of Raman amplification on the transmitted optical signals.
