摘要
Objectives: To describe the extended high frequency threshold presents by the IDDM patients; to determinate the relation between threshold and duration of diabetes; to determinate the relation between threshold and insulin control of the patient. Material and method: 29 patients with IDDM were compared with 32 individuals of the control group. The patients were divided for duration of diabetes and the same patients were divided for insulin control too. The AC40 audiometer was utilized, with verification of conventional frequencies of 250 Hz to 8.000 Hz and, in the high frequency mode, of 9.000 Hz to 16.000 Hz. Results: The thresholds were worst for higher frequencies, which we compare it with the conventional frequencies. The frequencies of 14.000 Hz and 16.000 Hz did presents the worst thresholds for the study group and the control group too. It doesn't found changes of statistic significance for any group, which we compare it with the control group.
