摘要：
Herpes simplex viruS (HSV) infection in the obstetric and gynecologic patient remains an actively researched area. Recent studies better clarifying issues pertaining to viral transmission, diagnosis, management, and treatment are presented. These investigations emphasize the importance of understanding the molecular biology of this organism when developing diagnostic and treatment modalities. Natural history studies continue to reveal significant aspects of viral behavior and its impact on the human host.
