The structural and methodological requirements derived from the implementation of the European Higher Education Area after the Bologna Declaration have involved deep reconsiderations in university curricula and, particularly, in the comprehension of the students' competence- based learning processes and assessment. The teachers' need to rethink their pedagogical commitment in accordance with the new directives and the chance to creatively and originally reflect on the basis of a project to improve university teaching quality have met in this project for the module Foundations of Sports. This modular proposal brings together the rigour to promote new university pedagogical directives and the satisfaction of having devoted some time to collective reflection that may be useful as a guideline or example for the different sports modules proposed by the Degree course in Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport. Thus, following the rationale of epistemological logics, curricular design and timing, and finally competence-based assessment, the main methodological contributions of this project will be developed, with a final discussion about strengths and possible improvements given by the perspective of years passed. The quality in sports teaching has been the clear reference.
