摘要
Passivation of iron in various slightly acidic to neutral buffer solutions was studied with a rotating ring-disk electrode (RRDE). Ferrous ions was always detected at the ring electrode at the initial stage of potentiostatic passivation. Galvanostatic cathodic reduction in borate buffer solution of pH 8.39 revealed that two stages of reduction of the passive film occurred and ferrous ion yields during reduction were different from each other. The passivation potential and time dependence of the chemical composition of films were estimated and illustrated from the ferrous ion yields detected on the ring electrode. © 1990.
