摘要
Specific heat C(p), dynamic shear modulus G*, and dielectric compliance epsilon* are measured in the splitting region a <-- --> alpha + beta of poly(n butyl methacrylate). The characteristic length of the glass transition is estimated from the calorimetric data to be about one nanometer before the breakdown of cooperativity between 15 and 21-degrees-C. The merging of the dielectric alpha and beta traces is between 70 and 80-degrees-C, more than fifty degrees higher.
