MASS-SPECTROMETRIC IDENTIFICATION OF NOVEL GASEOUS CALCIUM-OXIDE BROMIDE AND CALCIUM-OXIDE IODIDE COMPLEXES

摘要
The vaporization of CaBr2-CaO and CaI2-CaO mixtures was investigated by the use of Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry at temperatures of 1246 and 1048 K, respectively. The ions Ca+, CaX+, CaX2+, Ca2X3+, Ca3OX3+, Ca4OX5+ (X = Br,l), I+, Ca2OI+, I2+, and CA3OI2+ originating from the vapor species were identified by the use of an electron impact energy of 18 eV. Relative ion intensities, ionization efficiency curves, and appearance potentials were determined. The existence of the novel calcium oxide halide complexes Ca4OX6(g) and Ca3OX4(g) (X = Br,l) was concluded by a discussion of these data in addition to the existence of the gaseous species CaX2(g) and (CaX2)2(g) already known.
