EFFECT OF CONDITIONS OF HYPOTHERMIA ON SYNTHESIS OF STRESS PROTEINS IN WINTER-WHEAT SEEDLINGS

摘要
We used the radioisotope method, two-dimensional electrophoresis, and fluorography to study synthesis of stress proteins in etiolated shoots of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under different conditions of hypothermia. It is demonstrated that short-term temperature stress induces synthesis of a number of cold and heat shock proteins. Short-term reiterated action of hypothermia leads to increase in content of a number of stress proteins (15, 32, 33, 55, and 150 kD). Under these conditions, frost resistance of the seedlings increases parallel with synthesis of stress proteins. It is hypothesized that a trigger mechanism for induction of synthesis of a number of stress proteins functions in plants.
