PLASMA-WAVE COLLISIONLESS DAMPING AND CHARGED-PARTICLE ACCELERATION INDUCED BY DETERMINISTIC CHAOS IN A STRONGLY CURVED MAGNETIC-FIELD

摘要
Magnetic field line curvature is known to generate deterministic chaos in particle dynamics, while exactly conserving the particle kinetic energy. Nevertheless, in a collisionless plasma this chaos is found to result in a sort of linear Landau damping effect due to particle deceleration saturating near the lower energy edge of the chaotic domain.
