CONTRIBUTION OF THE TIMBER SECTOR TO THE COMMERCIAL BALANCE OF THE RORAIMA STATE: economic and environmental context

The main objective of this work belonged the rising and analysis of data about the contribution to the section lumberman to trade balance of the State of Roraima, as well as the implications environmental resultants of the exploration of the forest resource, because the section lumberman is one of the foundations of the economy of the State. To reach the proposed objectives the data of the trade balance of the State they were analyzed in the period from 1994 to 2006, questionnaire in an informal way were accomplished, to the section lumberman's representatives, as well as to representatives of environmental organs in the State, in the search of information about the extraction, adopted technologies, number of establishments lumbermen in the State and on the execution of the environmental legislation. Later, it was made a comparative analysis of the data presented by the representatives of the institutions, relating them with data presented in the trade balance of the State. Before the exposed, the accomplished studies showed that the State still stops the forest resource, therefore the public power had concern in implementing the minimum conditions for the maintenance of the resource, however he/she is needing to order the exploration. It is still emphasized the need to promote a study to make possible the identification of positive aspects and obstacles to they be overcome in the implantation of a model of maintainable development that he/she forms an alliance economical development and environmental conservation with the quality of life of the population, making possible like this a new productive arrangement for the Section.
