Presents a general introduction to the theme of the relationship between housing and health in developing countries, and is illustrated by some of the work undertaken in the Overseas Division of the UK Building Research Establishment. Complexity of the relationship is emphasised, where health is linked to features of safety, comfort and aspiration in amenity in housing. The basic design of the house and the choice of materials to be used have far-reaching effects on the health of the occupants. -P.Townroe
