EFFECT OF IMPURITIES ON INTRINSIC LUMINESCENCE OF CADMIUM TUNGSTATE SINGLE-CRYSTALS

Complex studies of the spectral-luminescent characteristics of CdWO4 crystals have been carried out under constant photoexcitation in the temperature range of 4.2 to 300 K and for different wavelength of excitation in the range of 260 to 360 nm "Pure" crystals of the CdWO4 as well those additionally doped by impurities Me+(Li+,Na+,K+,Rb+,Cs+,Ag+), Me2+(Mg2+,Ca2+,Sr2+,Ba2+,Ni2+,Pb2+), Me3+(Bi3+), Me4+(Ce4+) and Me6+(Mo6+) were investigated. It is shown that intrinsic luminescence of CdWO4 is connected with radiation of tungstate groups which are associated with the defects of the crystal lattice. In this connection the possibility of using the "semiconductor" model to explain the obtained experimental results is discussed.
