The effect of admixtures of MoO3 and B2O3 on the combustion rate for a mixture of Mo + B is studied. It is shown that MoO3 increases the combustion rate, and B2O3 reduces it. On the basis of theoretical estimates and analysis of experimental material it is concluded that with combustion of an Mo + B mixture transport of reagents is accomplished mainly through the gas phase in the form of MoO3. A connection is found between combustion rate and oxygen impurity content in an Mo + B mixture.
