Pyrolysis-gas chromatography combined with mass spectroscopy or high resolution mass spectroscopy was used to identify characteristic products of the pyrolysis (at 700-degrees-C) of N,N,N',N'-tetraglycidyl-4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane cured with 4,4'-diaminodiphenylsulfone and of the epoxynovolak resin cured with a mixture of dicyanodiamide and substituted urea. Knowing these products it is possible to identify components of the reacting system. A quantitative analysis of the pyrolysates revealed a pronounced dependence of the yield of products characterizing the hardeners on their content in the system, which makes possible their determination in such systems.
