摘要:
In this article I analyze one of the possible ways by which Brazilian Popular Music came to be endowed with a determined history, a formal definition and its own pantheon, processes set in motion mainly in the 1960-1970s within a newly established institution at the time: the Image and Sound Museum of Rio de Janeiro (MIS-RJ, in portuguese). My purpose is to understand the action of some key characters housed in MIS-RJ in order to establish the successful "routinization" of a particular aesthetical "authenticity" in Brazilian popular arts, which are the cases of Herminio Bello de Carvalho, Sergio Cabral, Jose Ramos Tinhorao and Ricardo Cravo Albin.
