Loco-regional anaesthesia of the head increases comfort, ease and even sometimes speed with which a diagnosis, a medical or surgical act is performed on a standing horse Under general anaesthesia loco-regional anaesthesia can also increase the effectiveness of anaesthesia and so limit any associated risks. The ability to perform this type of anaesthesia relies on classical rules of local anaesthesia but with a special attention to the anatomical knowledge.
