摘要：
The question of the equilibrium orientation of an anisometric particle floating in a uniform nematic is considered. We demonstrate that provided the nematic anchoring is sufficiently soft, the rod-like particle may be oriented either along or perpendicular to the sample director depending upon the actual type of boundary condition on the particle surface. © 1990.
