摘要：

Metformin belongs to biguanides, drugs with hypoglycemic activity. The primary indication for its use is type II diabetes, particularly in obese patients in whom non-pharmacological treatment is not effective. Due to its mechanism of action.. metformin is used in other disorders with insulin resistance states, such as polycystic ovary syndrome. The question of applying metformin in pre-diabetic states remains open. The role of metformin in cancer diseases, and in the metabolism of tissues not directly related to energy homeostasis of the organism, is the subject of the recent research,
