Samples of alpha-(FexCr1-x)(2)O-3 With various Fe/Cr ratios in the range of x = 0.2-0.8 and various particle sizes have been investigated by Fe-57 Mossbauer spectroscopy in the temperature range 10-293 K. The dependence of the magnetic hyperfine field at the Fe-57 nucleus on the composition of alpha-(FexCr1-x)(2)O-3 and the influence of the particle size obtained by two different regimes of heat treatment of the samples are reported. The Mossbauer spectra do not show any superparamagnetic behaviour of the alpha-(FexCr1-x)(2)O-3 samples, but a rearrangement of Fe3+ and Cr3+ ions at cationic lattice sites of the oxides is observed in the case of the heat treatment at higher temperatures.
