摘要
The strength and creep behavior of an MoSi2/SiC matrix reinforced with continuous unidirectional molybdenum fibers, coated with Al2O3, has been investigated. The results demonstrate that the ductility and interfacial debonding of the coated molybdenum fibers promote a high unidirectional fracture resistance. In addition the molybdenum fibers substantially improve the creep resistance at 1100-degrees-C, when the composite is again loaded parallel to the fiber direction. This work verifies the concept of using high strength, ductile, refractory fibers for the dual purpose of enhancing both fracture resistance and creep strength.
