摘要：

This article discusses the interaction between research and teaching. It is based on some students' questions concerning the study and practice of research. The focus is on Education and Applied Linguistics, including language teaching and teacher education. The quoted bibliography comes from different fields of study and research, mainly Social Sciences, Education and Languages. What is research? Why should we research? What is a research question? These are some of the questions this article brings into consideration. This article does not aim at providing readers with answers, but stimulating reflection on the importance of research for the development of educational practice.
