The article introduces the special issue, which is focused on the place of values in counseling research. After presenting a brief historical introduction, the author describes the challenges facing counseling research today and provides an overview of the 4 major articles that compose the special issue. Each article addresses a critical issue in counseling research, often with significant implications for counseling research as well as for counselor education or counseling practice.
