摘要
We describe the design of the detection module of a liquid scintillation radiometer with a protection scintillator whose signals are utilized in the radiometer. Using Russian-made materials to construct the detection unit, a ZhS-8 liquid scintillator, and specially selected FEU-118 photomultipliers, together with nonstandard experimental methods, we reduced the background level to 0.08 sec-1 and obtained a registration efficiency of 16% (without a quenching correction); the minimum perceivable activity was 10 Bk per liter of water with an accuracy of 40%.
