ENVELOPES OF CRACK-LIKE SURFACES FOR MODELING CAVITY GROWTH

摘要
Chuang et al. have developed a theory which suggests that the profile of the cavity as it grows is the envelope of the sequence of crack surfaces. In this paper the work is extended with a calculation of the equation for the envelope. The result is an envelope in the form of a notch. The width of the envelope is a function of the applied stress, grain boundary to cavity surface diffusivity ratio, distance between cavities, and capillarity angle.
