INFLUENCE OF MECHANICAL ACTIVATION ON SYNTHESIS AND SINTERING OF CORDIERITE

摘要
It is investigate the influence of the mechanical treatment of MgO, Al2O3, SiO2 and mixture consisting of these oxides on the processes of thermal synthesis and sintering of cordierite. It is shown that after mechanical activation of oxides mixture the starting oxides disappear already at the temperature 1200-degrees-C, and practically monophase product with the small quantity of spinel admixture is produced at 1400-degrees-C. The density of sintered samples increased from 60 up to 95 wt. % after mechanical treatment of short duration. The reason of mechanical activation effects has been discussed.
