This paper tries to demonstrate the importance of the Visual Art classes to teach imagery literacy and media literacy to students, searching to develop on them a critical sense regarding what they see, read and listen when in contact with messages brought to them via the medias. Hereby we try to show to the people involved with teaching within the traditional schooling system the importance of giving tools to students, so they can be critics regarding the information received throught the medias. This way, they don't need to be passive consumers of ideological messages.
