During the insertion of a Coonrad/Morrey total elbow replacement, the manufacturers recommend that a wedge of bone graft is inserted between the anterior cortex of the humerus and the anterior flange of the humeral component. We have found that securing the bone graft to the humeral component using 2 vicryl ties removes the possibility of the bone graft displaced during the surgery making the process of trialing and cementing the prosthesis more straightforward and reliable.
