Since the first synthesis of a silacyclopropene, efforts have been made to prepare the unsubstituted parent compound 3. This goal has finally been achieved: Pyrolytic elimination of trimethylsilane from 1 initially leads to the silanediyl 2, which cyclizes to 3. (Figure Presented.)
