摘要
Lubricants having a function all end group were bonded onto thin film magnetic disks through electrostatic interaction. The resulting lubricant layer exhibited a high degree of orientation such that long alkyl molecular chains aligned themselves perpendicular to the disk surface. Furthermore, the lubricants showed strong adhesion with various disk surfaces, especially carbon overcoats pretreated with UV radiation or NH3 plasma treatment. Friction force during CSS test was decreased by using this lubricant system even on a smooth disk surface (Ra = 40 Angstrom), which is due to the low surface energy of the organized lubricant layers.
