Shoulder arthroplasty is becoming an increasingly common procedure, with a multitude of new prostheses available. Unfortunately, the expanded indications for primary shoulder arthroplasty have also led to an increasing need for revision of failed primary procedures. This review article discusses the history of revision shoulder arthroplasty, the evaluation of the revision patient, and technical considerations with revision shoulder arthroplasty.
