This text looks the German historiography during the second half of the 19th century from the analysis of articles published in the review created by Heinrich von Sybel in 1859. Taking the journal as an object of research, seeking to understand it as part of the process of history's institutionalization in a field that brings together different historical schools, outlining a profile of the German historical science until 1900. He performs a characterization, in general, of the geographic clippings, countries covered, privileged areas, the most visited areas of history, prefered themes and sinalize the most important historians who collaborated in the Historische Zeitschrift.
