CHARACTERISTICS OF GALVANIC SKIN-RESPONSE IN SCHIZOPHRENIC-PATIENTS AND NORMAL SUBJECTS

Thirty patients suffering from simple schizophrenia were compared with 30 matched normal controls with respect to various galvanic skin response (GSR) characteristics viz., latency, rise time, recovery time, amplitude, rise angle, recovery angle and two background measures viz., skin conductance level and spontaneous fluctuations. Significant group difference was obtained with respect to both the background measures and all the GSR characteristics except rise time. In the factor structure of the GSR characteristics, recovery time came up as an important differentiating factor between normals and simple schizophrenics.
