摘要
Revegetation of coastal dunes in Western Australia has, to date, dealt with actively accreting fore-dune areas, where grasses have been planted. Trial work has shown that in unvegetated inter-dune depressions and deflated bases of old blowouts, some Acacia species survive and grow vigorously with the aid of mulches. Brush mulches help to protect seedlings from sand-blast and wind-burn, but do not improve the nutrient status of the soil. In hay mulch, many seedlings die intially, apparently due to competition from annual grasses, but those which survive show improved health and vigour compared to seedlings in brush treatments.
