INTEGRATION AT WORK OF THE MENTALLY-RETARDED

The process of integration at work of the mentally retarded is followed along different levels, from activity centers, to sheltered employment and on to their normal job. Also, whether they are able to find a job and to hold on to it is discussed. Likewise, the interaction between absenteeism and inadequate social behavior among normal workers and the mentally retarded is considered. A model of supported employment, followed in the U. S. A. and in some European countries for more than a decade now and fast becoming popular in our country, is offered as a new way of integrating individuals with disabilities in normal working conditions.
