摘要：
The reflections which are presented in this theoretical essay have as a background the relationship between teacher training, stressed with the media practices and educational mediation. The expected exercise is to continue - stressing and balancing positions - to the very current discussion of technology in education. It will be seen in this dialogue, that there are authors, international and brazilian, who demonstrate certain optimistic determinism about the use of technology in education, while others warn and question the risks of these discourses and practices when there is no reflection and thorough questioning. The discussion begins with an overview of culture and education in the contemporary world; afterwards, there is a discussion about cultural mediation and media education. Finally, the debate is dedicated to the theme of teacher training, in particular regarding the challenges faced by professionals dealing with education in this universe of media practices.
