摘要
OBJECTIVE: We report a case of Paget disease of the skull associated with squamous cell carcinoma of the temporal bone. METHOD: Review of literature regarding Paget disease of the bone and associated malignancies and also of squamous cell carcinoma of the temporal bone. Diagnosis of Paget disease was confirmed by characteristic radiological findings and laboratory findings of elevated alkaline phosphatase, serum calcium and positive urinary hydroxyproline. Squamous cell carcinoma of temporal bone confirmed by histopathology report was treated with combination of surgery followed by radiotherapy. Medical therapy continued for Paget disease. RESULTS: Our patient had a confirmed diagnosis of squamous cell malignancy of the temporal bone by histopathological examination and a radiological and biochemical diagnosis of Paget disease. CONCLUSION: This is perhaps the first time in literature that Paget disease of the skull is found associated with a squamous cell carcinoma of the temporal bone.
