摘要
Some of the mechanisms of synthetic oil lubricant additives in reducing friction in automotive engines are reviewed in this paper. Generally, under high-load and high-temperature conditions, friction, wear, corrosion, foaming and scuffing occur in moving parts in crankcases. These problems reduce engine life and may increase fuel consumption. To avoid these undesirable effects, synthetic additives should be added to the engine oil. One of these additives is the friction-reducing additive. There are several classes of friction-reducing additive, each having its own mechanism in reducing friction in automotive engines. This paper reviews some of the properties of these additives and the mechanisms by which they are effective in reducing friction.
