摘要
Uniform spherical colloidal particles of mixed aluminum and yttrium compounds were prepared by aging, at 90-degrees-C, solutions of salts of the two metals in the presence of urea. Different compositions and morphologies were achieved by altering the pH, aging time, and reactant concentrations. The change in the composition of the precipitates during the particle growth indicates that they are internally inhomogeneous. On calcination at 950-degrees-C, mixed oxides of defined composition, including a garnet structure, Y3Al5O12, were obtained.
