摘要
An increase in the inorganic pyrophosphatase (PPase, EC 3.6.1.1) activity with salinity is reported for the first time in a marine Chlorophyte Dunaliella salina. This phenomenon is accompanied by an increase in carotene synthesis. The PPase, which hydrolyzes the pyrophosphate (PPi) produced during carotenogenesis, may be considered as a regulator of carotene synthesis. The activity of this enzyme in crude extracts is inhibited by NaCl and changes with pH. The protein has been purified which allows the study of a transcriptional, traductional or post-traductional regulation.
