The occurrence of spinal injury is a potentially serious event in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients. The risk of spinal cord injury (SCI) is greater in this situation. With this case report the authors outline the factors that increase the incidence of vertebral fractures and spinal cord injury in AS patients and discuss the management of SCI in these patients.
