INFLUENCE OF HIGH ALUMINUM CONCENTRATIONS ON FINE-STRUCTURE OF EPICUTICULAR WAXES OF SPRUCE SEEDLINGS

摘要
The effect of aluminium concentrations of 46, 70 and 140 ppm, respectively, on epicuticular waxes was studied in potted Picea abies (L.) Karst. seedlings provided with nutrient solutions. There was a significant decrease in Ca, Mg, and P concentration in the needles after a 10 month period. Also chlorophyll fluorescence of needles was affected. However, no evidence of changes of epicuticular waxes was found due to Al toxicity when studying micromorphology of needles under the scanning electron microscope (SEM).
