摘要：
The National Marine Sanctuary Program (NMSP) was established in 1972 to protect coastal and marine resources while also managing these resources for public use. This paper examines the NMSP by addressing the general policies of the program and indicating the need for program modifications. Specific recommendations for addressing existing problems are suggested to ensure the continued success of the program.
