摘要
The maiden flight of the Imperial College 41-inch telescope, developed for far infrared astronomical observations, was launched in November 1976. Pointing and stabilization of the telescope were provided by the U. K. Stabilized Balloon Platform. Design features of the telescope, optics for two-color photometry, focal plane chopper and on-board electronic signal-processing will be presented, along with preliminary results on the performance of the payload in its first two flights.
