摘要：

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is an acute infection of the lung parenchyma in patients who have acquired the infection in the community. Many viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi can cause CAP, but there are a limited number of pathogens responsible, the most commonly isolated of which is Streptococcus pneumoniae. This article outlines the epidemiology, diagnosis, and management of CAP in adults, with emphasis on the 2007 guidelines of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and American Thoracic Society. © 2012.
