An experiment was conducted during spring seasons of 1984 and 1985 to study the response of greengram (Phascolus radiatus L.) varieties to 5 dates of sowing. Optimal time of sowing of greengram was found to be mid-March and any delay or advancement in sowing date reduced the grain yield significantly. Varieties 'PDM 11'. '11/395' and 'Pusa 105' were high-yielders and suitable for both early and late sowings. Delayed sowing beyond 15 April was damaged by heavy rainfall al the time of pod setting and hence not found suitable.
