Subdermal decadron and bupivacaine to treat symptomatic lichen sclerosus

Four women with severe and intractable lichen sclerosus who failed to respond to topical corticosteroids and topical testosterone were treated with serial subdermal injections of dexamethasone/bupivacaine. The treatment schedule began with biweekly injections, which were gradually extended to monthly and finally every 2 months, The topical application of EMLA cream eliminated injection site discomfort, Every patient experienced termination of pruritis or pain or both, cessation of disease progression, and regression of scaring.
