INTERACTIONS BETWEEN GLOBODERA-ROSTOCHIENSIS WOLL AND RHIZOCTONIA-SOLANI KUHN ON THE POTATO

Studies on interactions between Rhizoctonia solani and Globodera rostochiensis on the potato (in pots and in vitro) showed the fungus to inhibit the nematode population. The antagonism was manifested as: a significant reduction in the final density (P(f)) of cysts, eggs, and larvae, and in female fecundity, deteriorated health condition, related to the eggs and larvae being parasitized and to their deformations. On the other hand, the magnitude and quality of potato yield in the joint and separate presences of the two pathogens showed some differences which were statistically non-significant.
