STUDY ABOUT CORSICAN ANTS POPULATIONS (HYMENOPTERA, FORMICIDAE)

An ecological survey of Corsican ants based on presence/absence criterion of 71 species, from 234 samples in 189 localities, gived results as follows: - The calculation of frequency index shows that seventeen species are very common, in particular three epigeic species, Aphaenogaster spinosa, Crematogaster scutellaris, Plagiolepis pygmaea, and two more or less endogeic, A. subterranea, Myrmecina graminicola; it also reveals the large altitudinal amplitude of a lot of species of the Corsican myrmecofauna. - Two correspondence analyses bear out these results and show the evidence of six associations between some species and some special kinds of habitats.
