Making a national historiography: Colonia del Sacramento in the work of Francisco Bauza: Historia de la dominacion espanola en el Uruguay

Once created the national States in Latin America, in the course of the XX century, began the task of the construction of national stories. Sought, then start history with the arrival of Europeans in the American continent, but also integrate the whole historic process developed within the borders of the States which then built their national stories. What interests us here is to analyze specifically the Uruguayan case, i.e. how the Uruguayan historiography interprets the Portuguese presence in what is today Uruguay. For this, we will focus on the analysis of a fundamental work in the Uruguayan national historiography: Historia de la dominacion espanola en el Uruguay, wrote by Francisco Bauza.
